What Low Vision Zoom does and doesn't do with your information

Part 1 — The Low Vision Zoom app

Data we collect

None. Low Vision Zoom does not gather personal information, usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports, and it does not transmit your activity anywhere.

Your screen contents

The app magnifies your screen using the Windows Magnification API, which is a live display transform. It does not capture, record, screenshot, store, or transmit the contents of your screen. To keep the magnified view centered, it reads your mouse-cursor position; that position never leaves your device.

Keyboard and mouse

To make zoom work system-wide, the app uses Windows "low-level input hooks" so that Ctrl + scroll and Ctrl + Alt + Plus / Minus / 0 zoom in any window. The mouse hook watches only for the mouse wheel together with the Ctrl and Shift keys, and the keyboard hook acts only on the Plus, Minus, and 0 keys while Ctrl and Alt are held together — every other keystroke is passed straight through untouched. The app does not log keystrokes, record what you type, track your mouse activity, or send any input data anywhere.

Information stored on your device

The app saves a small settings file at %APPDATA%\LowVisionZoom\settings.json. It holds your "start with Windows" preference, your license key (if you've entered one), and the dates used to track your free trial. This information stays on your device and is not personal data about you.

The app also keeps a small technical log at %APPDATA%\LowVisionZoom\diag.log recording one-off events useful for support — for example, whether a Windows API call succeeded, or whether a mouse-wheel event reached the app. It contains no keystrokes, no screen contents, and no personal data, and it never leaves your device unless you choose to share it with support.

The app registers a standard Windows startup entry on your device so it is available after a restart. "Start Low Vision Zoom when Windows starts" is on by default; turning it off (in the tray menu or the About window) removes that entry.

License keys

License keys are validated offline, on your device, using a cryptographic check. Activating a license requires no account and no internet connection — the app does not phone home to verify it.

Internet access and checking for updates

The app works offline and never connects to the internet on its own. The only time it makes a network connection is when you choose "Check for updates" from the tray menu. That check does nothing more than compare your installed version number against the latest version published on our website and, if a newer one is available, point you to the download. No personal data is sent — there is no account, no identifier, and nothing about your usage, settings, or screen is transmitted. As with loading any web page, the request reaches our website's hosting and network providers (GitHub and Cloudflare), which may record standard technical request logs such as IP address and browser type to serve and protect the site; this is not used to identify or profile you. Updates are never downloaded or installed automatically — you stay in control of every network connection.

Part 2 — This website, your purchase, and support

Who we are

Low Vision Zoom is a product of txtbook LLC ("we," "us"). For this website, your purchase, and any support messages you send us, txtbook LLC is the data controller. The best way to reach us about privacy is through our contact form.

Website analytics

lowvisionzoom.com is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see basic, aggregate traffic — page views, visits, referrers, country, and general browser/device information — so we can tell which pages are useful. It is privacy-first and cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint you or track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. We do not run advertising or ad-tracking. Because the analytics is cookieless and we use no advertising or cross-site-tracking cookies, this site shows no cookie-consent banner — there are no such cookies to consent to. As with any website, the hosting and network providers (GitHub and Cloudflare) may record standard technical request logs, such as IP address and browser type, to serve and protect the site; these are not used to identify or profile you.

Purchases

When you buy a license, payment is processed by Paddle, who acts as our merchant of record. Paddle collects the information needed to complete your purchase (such as your email, billing details, and country for tax purposes) under Paddle's own privacy policy. The Low Vision Zoom app never sees or stores your payment details. We receive limited order information (for example, your email and order reference) so we can deliver your license key and provide support.

Contact form and support

When you send a message through our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you enter, and we use them only to reply and provide support. Submissions are delivered to our support inbox through a Cloudflare Worker and our email provider, Resend. To block spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile — a privacy-friendly check that does not use tracking cookies or profile you across sites, though it does process limited technical data (such as your IP address) to tell humans from bots.

How long we keep information

We keep contact-form messages and the support emails they become only as long as we need them to help you and to keep basic business records, after which we delete them. Order information tied to a purchase is kept as long as needed for support, refunds, and tax and accounting requirements. Cloudflare Web Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied to you.

Your rights and international users

We sell worldwide. Depending on where you live — for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the limited personal data we hold about you, which is essentially any message and email address you have sent us. Because this website sets no cookies and builds no profile, there is very little to act on, but you can exercise these rights at any time through our contact form, and we will respond. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Our service providers — Cloudflare, GitHub, Resend, and Paddle — operate internationally, so your information may be processed in the United States and other countries under their own privacy policies and safeguards.

Children's privacy

Low Vision Zoom is not directed at children. The app collects no personal information from anyone, so it collects none from children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices or the app's behavior change in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and its "Last updated" date.
